This first Simpsons season contains the first 13 episodes originally broadcast in the period 1989-1990. In the Christmas opening special, "Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire", Homer is forced to play Santa to make up for his lost Christmas bonus. In "Bart The Genius", Barts swaps IQ tests with Martin Prince and ends up in a school for gifted children. In "Homer's Odyssey", Homer gets fired after almost causing a fatal nuclear incident. In "There's No Disgrace Like Home", Homer pawns the TV to make the family follow therapy. In "Bart The General", Bart takes up the challenge from bully Nelson Muntz. In "Moaning Lisa", Lisa's suffers from a depression that only jazz music can cure. In "Call Of The Simpsons", Homer buys a crappy RV and sets out on a journey through the wilderness. In "The Tell-Tale Head", Bart saws off the head of the statue of town founder Jebediah Springfield. In "Life In The Fast Lane", a bowling instructor named Jacques tries to seduce Marge. In "Homer's Night Out", Bart catches his father on camera in a compromising dance with a belly dancer. In "The Crepes Of Wrath", Bart is sent to France where he has to do a slave job for two wine merchants, while the others enjoy the stay of an Albanian exchange student. In "Krusty Gets Busted", Bart's television hero is accused of armed robbery. And finally, in "Some Enchanted Evening", the children attack the babysitter who apparently is a notorious thief.
