Brotherhood of Cool
I had to go all alone to watch this film at the cinema. I couldn't get a single person to go with me. Why? Well everyone was interested up until the point I mentioned that it was in French with Subtitles. Then everyone vanished. So on a Tuesday night I drove to a 9pm showing of Le Pacte des loups or Brotherhood of the Wolf as it is known in England and sat throught the most ballistic, beautiful and thrilling film I have seen. i can't think of another film that matches together so many different file types. You have the sweeping beauty of the pre-revolution french landscape mixed with some of the most brutal kung fu scenes this side of Enter the Dragon. I was totally consumed while watching this film and found the acting totally convincing. It does have it problems, slightly too long and if you pick at the plot to much it will fall apart but other than that it is an extremely beautiful film and after only seeing it yesterday I am looking at buying it on DVD today.

One of the two best movies of this year
I`ve seen this movie about 5 times in the theatre and i still want to see it again and again.I don`t understand why some are comparing LE PACTE... to the Matrix? Is it due to the slow motion scenes...?Anyway,Christophe Gans gives us a mixed of "genre" neverseen before in film making. This is not a carbon copy of chinese /western/costume movie but his vision of all these. This movie has the best photography i`ve ever seen and the slow-mo or speeding of the frames during the action scenes makes you feel the state of mind and physical part of the characters. But LE PACTE is not only an action flick but a great movie with a great cast and even with all the external influences preserves it`s FRENCH indentity and is better than hollywood. The picture and sound quality of the first DVD is outstanding and the bonus materials on the second DVD is worth buying. One thing is... you can see and feel that Mr Gans has a passion for what he does. One last thing Samuel LeBihan,Dacascos and Cassel are better in their fight Scenes than NEO,TRINITY and MORPHEUS.So this dvd is worth buying because for once it`s a French movie that does not deal with Social problems.
