THE MEDIADIS.COM REVIEW

|
|
When the spiritual father of Lost thinks about vacuum-cleaning Star Trek, you would be willing to bet a nice action figure of the Cloverfield monster that his intentions are indeed pure, even though we were first kind of skeptical about the new cast, but then - J.J. Abrams did it again! Trekkies can get ready for a visuel experience replete with humour (with Chris Pine as babe in woods), action, suspense and nutty dialogues (find out whether you’re "emotionally compromised") that typify the series. Everything about this eleventh installment will crack your pants: the rhythm, the music, the special effects – especially the introduction scene during which the Kelvin gets attacked by Nero and right after that a crew member gets sucked into space, which then triggers a deadly silence – even in 2009, the classic film '2001' remains inspirational! Halfway, the director takes a big risk as he brings the total annihilation of the Vulcan people to the foreground but not in vain as it serves one trusted character.
